Art appreciation for all

Presented by A Scholarly Skater

I’m Alexandra (aka the Scholarly Skater). I’m an art historian/figure skater/nerd from the USA.

If any of you know me from my blog, A Scholarly Skater, you know that I’m highly passionate about art in pretty much all its forms. Maybe you are, too. Or maybe you don’t know much about it, but you’re hoping to learn more. If that’s the case, you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Art Appreciation 101 is all about helping everyone become more comfortable with enjoying, talking about and understanding art and architecture. Whatever you have questions about, I have answers, explanations, helpful hints, games… you get the idea.

The Basics introduces some basic tools for art appreciation. Look here for essentials such as how to look and tips for a great museum visit.

Short Guides includes handy reference guides for major artistic and architectural styles and movements. Want to know how to recognize a Gothic building or why Post-Impressionist paintings look the way they do? Here’s where to find out.

All About Art History gets into some theory and background. Once you’ve gotten comfortable with the basics, turn here if you want to learn some more about how art history works.

Test Your Skills gives you fun little challenges and exercises to improve your art appreciation skills.
